I would've thought "Hold Up A Light" was a horrendous Britney Spears cover upon reading everyone's reaction to it. Albeit, it serves as their new standard Foo Fighters sounding jam on the album, it's not terrible. Definitely sticks out a bit and is my least favorite, but jeez Thrice fans around here can be touchy. If this album possesses any faults, it's that it sounds like a Thrice album at this point in their career would be predicted to sound. Having said that, I'm not blown away, but am intrigued.

Honestly, couldn't be a more logical follow up to "To Be Everywhere..." in my opinion. Not gathered a sturdy stance on the album one way or another so far outside of aesthetics and early listening thoughts.
Their religious lyrics have always been occulted enough to where I think they're awesome (being a non-religious person myself), and let's be fair; they've been hedging towards being a standard rock band (I say lovingly) since Beggars, and even before that a little bit. They just do it better than the vast majority of the shite that is out there. I'll keep coming back for the Thrice aura and catchy Dustin-isms as long as they want to pump em out.

All good choices. Really, the only thing on that album that kind of bothers me is the chorus of Hoax to Live For. That main lead guitar part has always just seemed a little off to me, especially when it comes back in the second time.
I love Dream Club Murders, especially that ending.
Too bad none of their other stuff came close to the quality of that one.

I think Four Wall Blackmail rules. Never got into Vices as much but it was still ok. I remember reading an interview when Vices came out and they were like "the band is new and improved and we're here to stay", and they seemed really excited about their new direction. But then they just kinda quietly disappeared shortly after Vices came out. It was weird

I have trouble fully getting into FWB, but Vices is definitely the weakest.
I do kind of remember them being pretty amped about ditching the post hardcore (or screamo, as it was lovely referred to back then) and then not hearing anything from them after the lead single from it. The next thing I remember, The Finest was put out and Brandon wrote some stuff in the liner notes about the band being over.

I will admit FWB has a bit of filler, but it also has some of my favorite DP songs like Stereochild and Burgundy. The t/t and August Winterman also rule

Yo Molotov and Glass in the Trees are where it's at on New Medicines.
But I mean the whole thing is great. Y'all inspired me to relisten for the first time in years and yeah, it holds up really well.

It's one of those albums I didn't think I would still like all these years later, but it is just a great hard rock/post hardcore mash up that doesn't get old.
