I definitely feel the emotional tug of this album, like I respect both the artists have been thru and that it’s freeing for them to feel redeemed
I guess I focus too much on like the actual sounds and voice tones and structures too much sometimes, like I’m judging it too harshly on Kanye’s nasallyness and I’ve never been a fan of cudi’s sound really

yeah no I struggled with rating this as well noler but I kinda got the vibe the "freeing" theme of this album applied to not confining themselves to make "objectively" amazing music but instead music that came off very naturally, hence why it feels a bit messy but at the same time it kinda drives home the album's conceit

| |
Yeah the fact of the matter is me harshly judging the sounds of the album is probably exactly what both artists are trying to free themselves from lol
So fuck maybe I’m the bad guy

hence why I mentioned that maybe you're missing the point ahaha

that’s kinda just how I judge all music tho... it’s not nice but it’s how I find the good stuff

yeah I do too man, but melonhead's rev kinda helped me try to take a step back from it
|
| |
I wonder sometimes if ppl would respect Melon more if he wasn’t bald
|

Probably my favorite aspect of music is when theme and execution go hand in hand, and I already love both artists, so I can concede my 4.5 is subjective for sure
|
| |
remember when literally everyone was trashing Kanye’s twitter? Already feels like a different lifetime even tho it was like 2 months ago lmao
|
| |
I'm still pretty disgusted/very conflicted when it comes to him lol but yeah it definitely fell by the wayside relatively quick

im actually blown away that ye and cudi can still put together a project this airtight given their recent (maybe even not so recent) output

nolerthebowler , Kids See Ghosts has so much appeal because it shows that Kanye and Cudi have triumphed over relatable struggles. Not to mention the sampling was very unique. From the Louis Prima one on "4th Dimension" that in standard Kanye fashion, should not have worked as well as it should have. To the Kurt Cobain sample that actually didn't feel forced and worked well with the song. A couple of weeks after the album released Drake used a dispicable Michael Jackson feature where he altered his voice, it just shows how much care was put into what was used in everyone ounce of KSG.

the worst part of this album is where Ye goes 'SWITZERLAND' on t/t
smh that's been in my head all fucking day, wish that verse was better

hahaha I think it was kinda funny but a bit cringe ya

One of my fav memes ever was “y’all getting worked up ab drake featuring Michael Jackson like Kanye didn’t thro GOD in the booth”
The Santa sample is used very very well, that song and T/T are the clear standouts imo
