I feel like the album art does a pretty good job of conveying the mood of the record. This album is both cold and warm in a hard to articulate way. That the ornament is metallic conjures the coldness of the record, yet its gold colour conjures the warmth. I dunno, I like it.

I get people not being wow'ed by it. I do think it is held back by lack of variety. I guess I just really like the narrow style they work with here. And it was probably the 2018 album I connected most with emotionally.

I think the versatility lends itself to not being liked; the range in emotive tone here is pretty broad. From tracks like Blue and Bay of Dreams, to Forever Sound and Love on Repeat, and Charisma + Bitter red somewhere in the middle. People can't seem to get on board with the fact that it's not tragic from start to finish.
Really, I don't see this band heading in reverse so I get the feeling that if people don't like em for what they are now, they're certainly not going to enjoy what's to come.
Drumming is 10/10.
