Why can’t people realize that when you make a review you can’t just praise every aspect of the music? If every review here was purely subjective this site would be garbage. What would you do if 2pac made a garbage album (If he was still alive. For example had a wacky flow and garbage rhymes throughout the whole album), and you had to review it? You may like it, everyone can enjoy whatever the hell they want, but would you rate it a 5 and tell people it’s awesome, or put away your bias and point out all positive, as well as negative aspects of that record?

Great review man. Was gonna write a review of this album but you pretty much outdid anything I would have written.

On the more serious note, review is subjective. That's the goddamn point of a review. You write review to endorse or oppose the music with your evaluation (how you perceive the album itself). As long as it's not factually incorrect, any subjective review is allowed. You haven't even posted a review yet you try dismiss this review by bringing up age level.

If I do find it awesome and 5 worthy I'd probably enjoy those aspects so I'd talk about them positively and explain how I like them.

You're acting like reviews can only have one set score. What's the point of every review/reviewer having the same opinion?

@Aberf „said the guy who has basic af music taste” haha. Yeah, especially that I enjoy quite a lot of bands that most people here hate, for example BVB or Disturbed. Sometime ago I’ve commented here that I really like bvb, and though I like to jam to some of their songs, and Disturbed is one of my favourite bands, I would never rate anything from these bands as a classic. Because their records just don’t deserve it. I enjoyed bvb self titled a lot, should I give it a high rating even though it’s qualities are certainly not worth it? Basic riffs, basic lyrics, basic song structures and monotone vocals. If we were to rate everything how we feel instead of criticizing what needs to be criticized, and appreciating what should be appreciated every review would worthless because it would not be a review. It would be an opinion. If you don’t mind people fangirling their favourite bands in reviews it’s okay. But for me it’s kinda cringy. Btw, you missed, try guessing my age again.

@Drifter I understand this, you could like these aspects and point them out, but what about things that sucked? Would you ignore them? Probably not. And that is the point. Why did I rate some Radiohead albums 2.5 or 3.5 even though they’re in my top 3 bands? Because of questionable production choices, sometimes cringeworthy lyrics and so on. As for the scores, do not jump into extremity, of course ratings may vary based on your taste, for example an album that has average 3.0 rating can be rated by someone as a 2.5, 3.5 or 4, but it should certainly not be rated as a classic, nor as an awful album, because all of it’s quallities, positive or negative should be pointed out and appreciated/criticized

So with Green Day's debut, which has a 3.5, I 5'd it because it's my favorite album. I love all the guitars, lyrics, drumming, everything. Even the cheap production because it adds to it. Other people don't like the production or the drumming. Should I not 5 it because it has a 2.6 and some people don't like something? I love these things so I will 5 it. Drake's Views, I love his rapping, the beats, his singing, the features, everything. Many people find a lot of the songs dull and cringey. I don't. I love it all so I 5 it.

If we were to rate everything objectively with no opinion then there would be nothing to talk about. Every user would be dull in their music taste. Rating how we feel is the whole damn point of rating.

@park Better than having your 5s all filled with easily recognizable artists/band. Not to mention multiple albums from the same band and nothing unique whatsoever.
