This album actually sucks so hard that it became the blueprint for disappointment. Ever since this release I am totally prepared for any artist, no matter how great, to suddenly be not worth following anymore

little things that give you away is so good
makes me wish they inherited more of U2's better qualities instead of just trying to rewrite that band's hits

What I’ve Done was a tepid rehash of a sound that was dated before this album hit prepro.

"This album actually sucks so hard that it became the blueprint for disappointment. Ever since this release I am totally prepared for any artist, no matter how great, to suddenly be not worth following anymore" damn that's a dramatic way of looking at it

This album is really strong imo, as far as poppy altrock goes.
What bothers me about it and its creation is that the band thought cutting away from what made them successful, their numetal-ish first and second LPs with massive choruses, would make them "seen" as making better music, as a band. Or something like that. They wanted to be regarded as good music artists, if I remember the interviews of 2007 right. Anyway, kinda seemed like they were always having an identity crisis as a band with each album after Meteora.
Kinda fitting that their newest one goes back to being poppy altrock, where they excelled imo.
