I think it is a powerful paradox that Brand New's most visceral, upfront and immediate LP required the most patience to appreciate. Daisy is undervalued and it might be because fans collectively signed off from giving it a try. I love this site as a passionate soundboard but it seems these type of forums can act to merge personal and collective opinion. To me, it is purpose-defeating as a headphone-listener for the latter to address any piece of the former. Maybe it is just as much the inherent accessibility of Brand New burning-down-the-forest with wailing guitars and violent screams, but I think Daisy in particular may have suffered from this collective dissection.

Uh-oh, but here now I am compelled to dip my toes in the Sputnik waters: by the grace of JLacey save me from becoming a forum-er! ( ;

Bumping this to a 4.5. Sowing, this review pretty much turned me around on this album - made me really go through the lyrics and think about the themes instead of brushing off the odd or clunky lines.

I mean, there's still some wonky stuff on here that I can't get on board with ("how darkly the dark hand", "your sister groans", the way-too-loud drums on Noro, Bed as the second track) but the actual themes of this album resonate with me a lot and I think they come through really clearly.

Noro and You Won't Know are far and away their best tracks, with Sink sneaking up as a personal fave

Degausser is my favorite on TDAG, Noro is my favorite on Daisy. Easy.

Bought a Bride most underrated BN song? Thoughts? Agreed? It's settled.

Bride kinda sucks IMO.

In a Jar is way better. Hard to pick most underrated song out of all of them, though.
