This is what I draw most of my conclusions from. In how I am reading it, I feel a strong sense of them producing a reactionary album that's at least in part designed to confound the "haters." I'm not saying I'm completely right, I'm just giving you my interpretation of their comments and the way their attitudes are reported in this piece.

"who knew a faux elitist would have worse metal taste than the sputnik nu-metalcore fanboys"
speak for yourself you insecure wankstain.
|
| |
I didn't know deafheaven wrote this as a response to the haters saying its not metal enough... that's so lame and yeah that's probably why this is so much worse than sunbather
|
| |
That's my interpretation of what I've read about it. At least to some degree it was written with a reaction in mind.

lol not metal enough ok
if we wanna get specific, its black metal, and its DEF not black metal enuf
|
| |
i highly doubt the band, or any band for that matter, would write, record and release a whole album as a response to haters saying they're not metal enough
like seriously if you actually believe that wow i don't even know what to say but smh
|
| |
"a whole album as a response to haters saying they're not metal enough"
That's pretty far from what I said. What I did say was that I think this notion was overly influential in their writing process and I think this album might have come out better had it been written in a critical vacuum.
|
| |
wasn't really replying to you mate, more to mystle, but again, if you think this band in any way changed how they wrote the music in response to "haters" then i got to shake my damn head
|
| |
Fair enough, I raised the point earlier which is why I was addressing you.
"in any way"
I'm being pedantic but the criticism had to have some impact, as they were clearly aware of it. I could be totally wrong, but the way I hear the music and read into what they said about the album, I feel like it had a pretty big impact on the album.

Hopefully their next album is heavier coz this isnt metal enough
|

I was just going off what spacesh1p was saying, not like it makes much of a difference to me other than having less respect for this band if it's true.
Anyway this album sucks because of poor songwriting among other things not because it isn't trve metal, sunbather at least had songs that go somewhere.
