I find it weird that a lot of people think Frances is better than this album. Yeah, Frances is more experimental - uses more pointless sound to create false atmosphere - but this album is one of those prog albums which doesn't really entirely on said pointless noise; it is jam packed full of great guitar work and fantastic ideas. It reminds me, not in the musical style but in the sheer quantity of musical ideas within individual songs, of Rush; songs that are over six minutes but just couldn't be shorter. Less Moonchild by King Crimson and more 21st Century Schizoid man; bursting with inspiration.
Defoe a 5.0 from me, and I believe it will be inspiring musicians for a long time to come. Good review though.

To me the best part of the album starts at Eriatarka. First songs are a tiny tiny bit overwhelming/annoying.

I don't mind the vocals at all, but I can understand why someone would hate them.

He was better in ATDI imo, a lot harsher and more powerful but he's still awsome here though.
