I cannot imagine the follow-up being more boring than this, but they might surpise me.

There's a lot of great material here. If it wasn't so bloated it would at least be better than We Were Dead.

Mh, I dunno they've always had a pretty broad spectrum from totally awesome to totally disastrous and I feel this as much of a fun mixed bag, as their last two albums.

Opener, Lampshades, The Ground Walks, with time in a box, Coyotes, Pups To Dust, Wicked Campaign, The Best Room

are all hard jamz.

Been spinning "The Ground Walks, with Time in a Box" quite a bit over the past couple of days, song is considerably better than I initially gave credit; will have to give the full album a second chance

Honestly its a really inconsistent album but not that much more inconsistent than Modest Mouse usually is and the highlights rule and it has fantastic production so Im not sure why the average is so low tbh

I think it's really hard to rate an album correctly right after it's release, which is what most people do. Add to that, that of course everyone wants to be floored like they were when they first discovered M & A or Lonesome Crowded West and it all adds up to a recipe for disappointment.

Just to clarify, I don't see this on the same level as those above mentioned. Still it's really good.

Be Brave is great and I don't care what any of you super serious elitists say, Pistol fucking bangs haha I'm not even kidding. I don't know why that song just ruins users' days.

Yeah the overwhelming dissent for Pistol on this album was a bit ridiculous, it's a great song with awesome drum fills.

Be Brave is pretty good, though you have to be in the right mood for it like We Got Everything or Dance Hall, cause it's one of their more obnoxious songs like that.
