I never really got into Awake other than Lifting Shadows and Space Dye Vest. I get the feeling that if i were to visit it now, i wouldn't like it at all cos I'm kinda off DT anyway

ACOS as an epic can compete with so many of my favorite DT songs from LPs, but it is unfortunately it is from an EP.

that ep happens to be as long as most of their lps so i'd count it in my top 5

also acos song is easily the best dt song ever

The structure changes like crap on most 70s prog 20+ minute epics and even some 10+ minute epics like Genesis's "The Musical Box" so much that it's not even funny. Many of them are even divided into eight parts themselves, but play like one track.

Most 70's prog epics are far more cohesive than the the title track from here. There's a huge difference between a song made up of multiple parts/sections and a song that is just several separate songs (with their own choruses and everything) loosely stitched together.

Honestly the title-track has some pretty nice moments, but as a whole it couldn't have been more disjointed. And when considered separate tracks and taken out of context, most of the individual parts of the song are not even that good

Since when? If it were a single song, it would flow much MUCH better. You know, like an actual song?

Disc one is the absolute best thing they've done since Scenes. That disc alone this would probably be 4.5-5 level
