And I know that sounds like a harsh criticism, but any time anyone who has been introduced to dubstep by way of the edm machine hears anything resembling manipulated bass it's therefore automatically dubstep

So then how does "just about every track of his" have dubstep influence if not in terms of some synth with the shit compressed out of it?

Although that deep bass wobble is a dubstep element, it's a stretch to define the genre as dubstep just from that alone.

I wonder how many thousands of times this precise conversation has taken place...

These days I'm more irritated by the people who argue that actual dubstep producers aren't dubstep, but are instead "chillstep", "downbeat", "chilled out ambient", just "uk garage", etc. They tend to be the arrogant ones, rather than the innocent casual listeners who just wants to party to some nice big bass wobbles.

I agree, but his songs generally always contain some element of the genre

I don't get it - what do synths have to do with dubstep?

I don't disagree with that. Same doesn't go for his peers though.

To me, one of the defining characteristics of brostep is that wobbly midrange synth

I should've specified before that I meant he doesn't use many core dubstep elements. I tend to focus
on the beats.

Uh, no it's not. And I'm pretty sure after writing a few reviews I know what an adjective is, I'd just like to know about these wobbly keyboards of yours
