"Progressive" has become a generic term just like "Alternative".

Indeed. It's really a sad event to watch. Progressive music used to be so interesting, so compositionally challenging, beautiful. The genre has become dull thanks to Dream Theaters and Opeths and any other popular-rip-off attempt. Progressive Rock is the genre I still listen to and it is still intriguing whenever I see bands taking notes from 70's albums. The Canterbury scene still has some great bands haha. Avant-Garde is really forward thinking, agreed.

Yea Dream Theater and Opeth were great when they first started and actually were very progressive and original but now you hear hundreds of bands that just copy them, especially Dream Theater. Im sure its the same with Godspeed.
