not really a band I can play as background music

So true. If you're gonna listen, you really have to sit down and pay attention. Their second album is probably my favorite though.

Agreed. I couldn't get into Frances much myself cos all the ambient stuff but I've only heard it like 5 times I should probably give it another chance, it seems to be a lot of people's favourite one.

If you give time for Frances, it's extremely great. During the first few listens I had a hard time paying attention, bat after a while I got to know the whole thing and it got better and better.

Frances is worth the effort.

Yeah I really didn't like Frances much until I just kept listening to it. I love it when the trumpet comes out of nowhere and some of the guitar solos just really make it great.

Sometimes I think Omar rules at guitar and other times I have no fucking idea what he is doing like when he just plays random notes that make no sense and sound like shit. Gotta take the bad with the good I suppose.

@TommyGun - Too true, I saw TMV @ sonisphere in the UK and they were awesome for the most part (playing tunes off this record), they finished with a chilled out Goliath in the vain of Rapid Fire Tollbooth, then Omar just tripped out completely. He just does what the fuck he wants IMO.
|
| |
Yeah man I've seen him playing live with Juan Alderete and Deantoni Parks. They pretty much just jammed for an hour and a half, Omar fucked around for most of it but did play some awesome shit too. He has admitted in interviews that he's completely ignorant of music theory so I guess he just noodles around for a while and every now and then he comes up with something brilliant.
