When Hackett was in the band Genesis were twice the band Rush ever were (not saying Hackett's presence was the sole reason for that, just using him to define the era).

I know you'll disagree with that but you'll never change my mind!

Genesis during their golden age > most prog, but Rush are awesome and pretty much the most consistent band ever.

think ur exaggerating a bit but yea 70s genesis is incredible but i find hemispheres to be on a similar level of quality, i mean its instrumental perfection

plus rush never made a bad record

Genesis have the better run of albums - Nursery Cryme to The Lamb, but Rush have to be the better band due to consistency. They also have the best individual song which is 2112.

It's not even close for me, Genesis wins hands down cos for me their classic stuff is just so much better than everything Rush have done.

I'd take Hemispheres and Farewell over any Genesis tbh

So much better is such an exaggeration though mate. Permanent Waves, Hemispheres and AFTK are absolutely mega.

It's not an exaggeration at all, I have to confess Rush aren't one of my favourite prog bands.
