Although a little unrelated, Im very religious myself.

Well Im saying that from what I understand, the priest is in strong doubts of his institution - somethings not right with the teachings.

Kezia is in jail, there has to be a connection. And of course the priest is a companion, I think by reading the concepts of the songs its quite obvious he has sympathy for the prisoners (Kezia also happens to be a prisoner, connection?)

The prison guard is a pawn for the religious institution. The word "Crusade" is brought up every now and then in the opening track of the album, implying how religious authorities can be directly tied to violent, ultimately immoral situations. This is such a brilliantly identical scenario to European medieval heresy, but its modernized with talk of firing squads instead of the gallows. I cant make much sense out of the story outside of what Ive just outlined.

I totally see what you're saying BF, and it's a really tight analysis. I just don't think there's enough to go on, you can't do anything but assume. That's obviously it's charm.

The Priest's part was not so much a comment on his teachings but a comment on his institution. Look at the Catholic Religion and it's yearly billion dollar+ legal expenses. Or, yeah, the Crusades.

It's more to do with him questioning how he got into it for the right reasons only to become, in essence, a pawn.

His only connection to Kezia is that he's the priest serving at her execution. Last prayers, blablabla.

Well that leaves a big question then... what crime did she commit? Id be surprised if they were so vague to not have a reason.

Why? The focus is on the ideas, not the situation surrounding them. Like I said, it's not a story. You know she's on "death row" and you know the three roles that affect it. That's enough to carry the ideas. That's the biggest reason why I wont call it a concept album.

Confusing!

Seriously though, the ambiguity surrounding the situation is the best part. You can take what you choose.

And back to the original argument that started this, I think that the situation at hand and the ability for the listener to take what they choose out of the album means that the band members intended for people to take something from the album, thus why I think this qualifies as a concept album. Id go on... but I need some fucking sleep. That was fun to pick at though. I probably got in an entire classworth of AP Lit analysis.

I wasn't arguing with you about anything more than the semantics of "concept albums". Dont worry.

I think 4.5 is the perfect rating. I just have it as a 5 because well, I'm a homosex. I'd re-write this and make it better but alas, no point. I'll just address some stuff in the Fortress review.

You guys.

Honestly. Get a life.

"Now this and that is not right and I don't like this"
Well now, isn't that just your opinion? Yes, it is.

So why come out attacking the reviewer because you don't like the band? If you don't, gtfo, no one cares about you. At all.

And I don't effin care if you're a mod, you and suck my D. This band is amazing and forever will be, just because your crappy emocore bands are going down the crapper doesn't mean the good music is. Go play some more Hawthorne you puss.

And you think the lyrics suck... HA! You obviously don't know a damn thing. Just because you interpret it the wrong way, like the idiot you are, doesn't mean they're not good if you actually have a friggen brain.

And you're probably going to be a little smartass, "Well, you don't know anything like I do, because I'm the king of the internetz, I'm cool" stfu gtfo of here

I signed up for this stupid website just to tell you pissy little fegs that you don't know anything and you should just drown yourself in your own piss.

Goodnight.

Amazing review by the way. Spot on, made me proud.
Peace. And once again, get a life, you guys obviously don't have one.

I just like that he was referring to a really brief, heated and since-ridiculed argument we had over a year ago.
