At first I wasn't a big fan, but I think it works for what it is. My main issue with it is the production, the drums dont have any 'impact', and the vocals sound like they are being buried by the rest of the music. Its a decent 5-6/10 track, with great vocals from both artists, but could have been developed more.

Pretty much my exact thoughts.
Well...I hope it convinces some people to check Buck-Tick because of it.

This is so different yet just as fun as Shouso. Love this girl.

I think Shouso is more fun, but this is slightly more of an artistic statement imo

That's a good way to put it. Shouso is more punk and in your face, this is a bit more whimsical, enchanting. Both are enthralling and so enjoyable.

Glad you're enjoying Shiina Pretty much everything she has done is worth listening (including all the b-sides and the covers albums)

Yes! Some nice imagery in that vid, like a crazy fashion show. That album cover on the other hand... yikes.

The album cover makes me chuckle ngl. It was good to see how much thought had gone into the vid, even if the vocals were garbage

I was kind of hoping she wouldn't go with that hilariously bad photoshopped album cover, but whatareyagonnado

Might as well embrace that we're in the era of meme Shiina :/

Yeah, I've pretty much accepted that this is where she's at now. She's older - she's got what, 2 kids? She's putting a lot of work into doing the Olympics thing. I guess we should be happy she's putting out another album at all? I didn't expect all that much from her after the last covers album.
My Japanese friends thoughts about Shiina are usually mixed. They liked her during her heyday, not super into her anymore, but appreciate she's still around. They also tend to have other views about her personally, saying her views are too nationalistic these days. Not a conversation for me, as an American. I just kind of nod haha.

The last thing I heard from her was the feature on the last Utada album

She's lot her sharp creative edge, simple as that. Basically a old mom version of what she used to be.

^100% agree, although I must say I still enjoy most of her new stuff, although not near as much as I enjoy her early years (Muzai Moratorium to Ringo no Uta)

The last covers album was solid, but the whole jazz pop thing has run its course.
