Just downloaded this yesterday. Haven't listened yet, but I feel like I'm gonna really enjoy it.

most of the songs are decent to great but it's never Rocky that makes the tracks memorable. this is a total producers album.

First song rules that's all I remember

@Neo: People say that but I can't honestly say I know anyone that could ride these beats and come up
with the spacey hooks and have that kind of personality or well...songwrite like ASAP does over the
production. I mean let's just take Nas or DOOM, honestly even if one of them was rapping over these
with tons of Nas' complex rhyme schemes or DOOM's referential entendres galore and stuff, it wouldn't
actually sound anywhere near as good.

i have no problem with Rocky because he does fit the beats but it's the beats which elevate it from a good mixtape to a great one. Rocky definitely wouldn't be able to carry the song if the beats were minimal or underwhelming.

@silent: If Rocky was a shitty rapper I'd have no problem admitting that. There's a good number of hip-hop I like that has pretty admittedly weak rapping. But that's not the case here. The boy can rap, he obviously isn't concerned with lyrics (or total technicality). Not that lack of lyricism is something to look for in rappers. The better the lyrics, the more I'll probably like it as long as it fits the music (ex: if ASAP was having Dalek lyrics over this it'd probably kind of be a big turn off, though Dalek does have relatively nice lyrics...for the most part), but you feel me.
@Neoteric: I mean yeah if he was having his flows with boom bap or Madlib beats it'd be very underwhelming but that can be said with a lot of rappers with beats that don't fit them. But yeah I'll admit that a huuuge part of the appeal is in the production and how he utilizes it.

asap rocky is objectively the very best rapper of all time ever in history. Wu-tang members can suck
his dick. this is proven by scientist at a science university.

Asap is a good enough rapper for his particular style, but agreed that it's the beats that make this album/mixtape/whatever
|

oh right forgot about him.
2nd best rapper then.

Yeah, Clams Casino is definitely one producer to keep an eye on. Happy 1000th comment to me.

his flow is decent, but his lyrics are just dumb, all he talks about is weed and he's not even clever about it, he just repeats the same stuff over and over.

and his delivery is too lazy for my taste (although i understand this is sort of an aesthetic choice in his part.)

fair enough about the delivery personal taste etc but i love the way he talks about his subject matter.
