Jammed some of this last night and came to realize that this really is Sigur Ros' best record. "Viðrar vel til loftárása" alone is an all-time best.

Yeah all the songs here are so unique from each other (something that wasn’t the case with Takk) and Viorar is super overlooked when i’m thinking about this album. But then when i do play it, the buildup is so compelling that i forget the rest.
Basically, every song is the best song in the moment.

^I agree completely. It is the reason that this is my fav sigur ros and probably my fav album in general. I love how each song is unique and has a different purpose in the album while the album itself remains cohesive.
That is something i miss in takk as well. Takk sounds nice but most songs blend in each other and as a result the album feels tiring on a full listen to me.

Takk is still pretty diverse though, a lot of the songs are just more accessible than what they did before. ( ) is their best imo

Yeah, this might be more diverse sound/mood wise but Takk has an interesting balance between more upbeat/almost poppy stuff and more ambient stuff.

I might like Takk a little more than this tbh, more of an emotional punch and blissful listen overall. Viðrar vel til loftárása is probably their best song tho.
