When I said I doubt they care I meant that they're not going to hop on twitter or wherever and say "sorry guys, 8 tracks is all you're getting" whether that be the case or not
Yeah you're right, I can see that under most circumstances but the rumors and speculation for this have moved beyond the normal threshold for these things. It has gained enough attention that major websites have taken notice and their own record company has commented on it.
Which is exactly why they're staying silent
Yeah definitely but I guess what I'm arguing is that I think they would be less likely to stay silent if in fact the rumors were false. Obviously it is gaining a lot of attention for them so they clearly would want to keep that going but what would the cost be if there wasn't any truth to it? Radiohead are obviously very concerned with being revolutionary and surprising people. It wouldn't be revolutionary at all to release what they have released and then simply make some obscure twitter posts about it and watch people go into a frenzy over them. Sure, it is hilarious and probably pretty entertaining for them, but the end result would be that they would fall short of the revolutionary twist that everyone is expecting them to dish out, which is the exact opposite of what they want. They want to exceed expectations and shock people, not underwhelm. So I'm feeling like they would debunk the rumors if they were indeed false in light of that reality because the longer this goes on for, the more underwhelming it would be if it amounted to nothing. Who knows I might end up eating all these words for fucking breakfast though haha. I guess we shall see.

I don't see how it could be underwhelming when the band themselves haven't said anything. If people are going to get disappointed if there isn't some sort of immediate follow up you only have yourselves and your amateurish conspiracy theories to blame

Haha sorry, I kinda love this conspiracy theory shit if you couldn't tell. I know a lot of people think it's lame but I do think there's enough here that it's not totally grasping for something that isn't there you know? And come on, how could it not be underwhelming? It's not just random people like me who are latching on to this. It's A LOT of people, even major websites. That means there's a lot of people expecting Radiohead to pull some crazy shenanigans and if they don't, that would be underwhelming.
