not instigating the discussion further, but i think at least in this album the samples were put in such a way that they sound nothing like their original context, and the end result is not just a rehash of old songs from other authors. i think that makes it a valid, independent composition

Plunderphonics music is partly good because of the limitation of having to work with entirely preexisting music. Think of the samples as DJ Shadow or The Avalanche's instruments. Also this is a better hip-hop record and Since I Left You is a great pop record. They're different enough to coexist
