This hits such a perfect balance between the shorter poppy tracks and the longer more atmospheric ones. I love the ongoing themes of a dark, dysfunctional, drug-addled America too.

Suicide demo and bay of pigs are two of the best songs ever written

Bay of Pigs is the best song I've come across in a good while.

‘Chinatown’ means the most to me, but ‘Bay of Pigs’ is a stunner

Chinatown is an interesing pick given the more unique/interesting tracks here but it's definitely great, I loved it immediately on the first listen, drew me right in. Poor in Love I was a bit indifferent towards on the first few spins but that one's grown on me really hard already.

‘Chinatown’ just introduces the world of Kaputt in the most magic way, and it’s so romantic with the duet, a really important song for me.

‘Poor in Love’ is one of the missus’s favourites, she loves the guitar on that one.

I know you said some people think this is devoid of hooks Doof but I really just don't see it! Love Bejar's delivery all over this thing, it was pretty much instantly memorable for me. I was kind of surprised by that as I'm not really a fan of his vocals on the New Pornographers songs I've heard him on.

I consider this album by far his most successful venture, the way his vocals mesh with the instrumentation here is a genuine wonder

Boney - I think it’s helped you’ve come to this after exploring so much dream pop and shoegaze

Rubies is his hook-fest, but this has quite a few as well

That's possible Doof, I'm really into that hazy atmospheric stuff at the moment and this definitely has a certain similar appeal.

‘Rubies’ is dope but I think the first half slays the second half.

What do you make of ‘Streethawk’ Fripp? - I consider that his second best now
