"Production is fine children, now go to bed."
It just seems to me, after listening to everyone of their other albums, that this album just seems....off. Not content wise, per se. I mean, some parts are boring, but a lot does indeed work. I don't know if its the guitar tone or the way the drums were recorded, but everything is coming across to me like they were going for a more raw tone.

This album has so much more groove to it than previous releases, i've never nodded my head to an Agalloch album as much as this one.

Good work on the review. I have only listened through the album once and I see some of your points. I rated it higher because I am hoping it grows on me.

I really enjoyed this album. I can understand the general reaction to the album, as it is the least hook-centric album they have done, although I completely disagree with the sentiment that this is the worst lp they have released.

Was going to order that but their checkout process kept trying to charge me like US $148 for it, which was totally wrong. Their conversion process must have fucked up or something. I'm happy with my digipack that I got from Relapse Records, though.

Since Ashes Against The Grain basically defines what I like about metal, this was a disappointment for me. Not a major one, but still a letdown.

Don't get what everyone's saying about the production. It sounds the same as their other records in terms of production values. I like the differing approach, it helps this record set apart from their other LPs. This is probably at least a 3.5/5, maybe a 4.
