The production is the main reason people dismiss it, it's extremely experimental in that regard, but really that album is almost like a synthesis of the songwriting direction of this record with the attitude and aggression of formulas, and the results are excellent if you are wise enough to seek beyond the "instant gratification" that many listeners are only interested in
