"They might be the tightest live band currently out there. I've seen them 4 times now and stood with my jaw drooling on the floor and my face melted off all 4 times."
nope sorry dude, they have great guitar solos, create a great atmosphere, have fantastic vocals, have great song pacing, their bassist is actually audible, but their still a 1/5, sorry bro

But I don't like most prog. My pie chart kinda reflects that too.

I have prog in my pie, but then again Sput has far too many artists with prog tags.
P.S. just noticed you have 65dos' tFOM 5d, nice.

Well, it's progcore for the most part. Between the Buried and Me, Slice the Cake, Periphery, Born of Osiris, Contortionist, that kind of stuff.

And yes, the prog tags are everywhere. Somehow I've avoided them so far as I have zero in my pie chart.

I just noticed you have multiple Opeth albums 5'd, and you 1 a NeO album? jesus dude relisten to that album, even if you think it's like Opeth, if they sound like Opeth wouldn't that mean you would like it, at-least to a semi-degree...

Uhm I love Opeth and I have to force myself to make it through a NeO record.
Though I must say I saw NeO live in June this year and I gotta admit they're very tight live. I'd say they're a good band, but I can't really get into them.

FYI - The original version has better production imo, I didn't like the drum sound (in particular) on the remaster (although it might've just been what I was used to).

I believe so. I'm not a big sucker for melodeath or this classical approach on this genre, but this is great music all along. I have some issues on first 2 listens with the fem's vocals...not very good (from tune to accent)...and a bit cringey at times...also the dude reading a book (instead of interpret it) with that low voice is not my style. The highs on this are super high tho. Super interesting work for a small band. Can see myself bump this one with repeated listens.

I'm not a sucker for melodeath usually, this is on a different planet to anything I've heard, although I guess it retains a heaviness more in-line with Opethian prog-death (especially riff-wise), the melodic/symphonic moments aren't overwhelming and it certainly avoids 'Gothenberging' for want of a more accurate phrase. The light/dark, soft/heavy thing is so well implemented, it progresses in a way that feel natural.
I love the fem cleans, guess that's just a matter of taste.
