You either have to be experiencing an existential crisis or on a high concentration of DRUGS to
fully appreciate this album, Let.

Well I'm happy enough to not have one of those (phew), and I'm kinda concentrating and reading ridiculous reviews of this album on RYM. The later half of Gathering Storm is quite beautiful, I didn't have to feign interest like the first half.
"This album is so far beyond the power of a regular record that it is hard to even fathom. To describe it, is to relate the whole history of life on Earth. To listen to the record is to lose yourself for an hour and a half, and simply be part of art, be surrounded by the omnipresent sound, be a part of nature once again."
Nothing like GY!BE to bring out the lax romantic in everyone

F# is way too depressing for me, only listen to it rarely

I've always seen the calm parts of the album as everything that's sad about life, that's as depressing as f#. But the more energetic moments, I don't know, I see them like some sort of light in the middle of the dark, that gives you hope to carry on in life
You don't need lyrics to express those feelings

Nice dig Jacq, have you heard his track from the Dystopian comp? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYdR8eUreu4 . And fuck I'm only halfway through this

This has some gorgeous moments, especially Cancer Tower, Broken Window/Locks of Love III, and Deathkamp Drone, but cmon, y'all know this has a ton of fat to shed. They could've cut out 25-35 out of this easily and ended up with a much more consistent sounding album. I'm sure I'll revisit some of those section, cause know doubt they know how to compose a great melody, but I can't Imagine trying to listen to this in full again. I had to force myself to not change the music a lot.

Agreed with Let. I liked F# a lot more. This feels bloated despite being pretty great regardless.

I disagree hard. I feel like everything is essential on here. It's all about the story it's trying to tell. Everyone's interpretation is different of course.

$89 an hour 4 hours a day 5 days a week would be like $1700 but yeah f# is better

This seriously some of the most transcending moments in music ever for me. That moving drone in the last five minutes and those bagpipes. Unlike anything I've ever heard.

This band found a niche, but cm'on they totally rip off Swans and Tangerine Dream.. among others (Motley Crue)
I'd rate it a 7/10. They are good, but their influences shine a bit too much.
