Talk about Emery, talk about Emery, talk about Emery, come on ties, talk about Emery, talk about Emery, don't post a picture or reference the Dane Cook Kool-Aid man sketch, talk about Emery, talk about Emery...

hard, isn't it?
anyway, back on the subject then. This is good, but would someone care to explain why so many 5/5 ratings?! The album mixes some great with some god-awful moments... 3/5 is good by my standarts.

There is definitely nothing "god-awful" on here.

the spanish parts for instance, feel way too forced and not polished at all. sometimes the melodies are also a tad generic.
(I'm struggling so hard not to post the pics of Dane Cook ties talked about...)

Esta noche serĂ¡ miaaaa. I agree with Baphomet about the melodies a bit and the Spanish is only what you can expect from somebody who doesn't speak Spanish ever (or I assume). Points for trying, at least.

we agree on something.... :'D
anyway, points for trying, yes.... but if the result ends up being so painful why try in the first place? why not stick with english and have a better result?
|

Because most of Emery's targeted listening market (not saying that they're targeting, but you know what I mean) won't really care if the Spanish is pronounced a bit funny. It'll be "hey, cool, Spanish" and they'll learn a new phrase. Point in case, now I can say "this night will be mine" with bad pronunciation whenever I want! This next bit is a bit detached from Emery...
but if the result ends up being so painful why try in the first place? why not stick with english and have a better result?
As somebody who has terrible Spanish grammar and embarrasses himself daily trying to improve his second language amongst people who actually speak it, it's necessary to occasionally humiliate yourself in order to recognize your errors and improve. It works the same way reviewers improve by reading and reviewing; first reviews aren't necessarily always great. El que persevera, vence...
Which is kind of irrelevant! Who cares! Emery!

Hey, I'm not being a grammar nazi here... there's a lot of times my english grammar just plain sucks.
I mean that why the hell force the spanish fraces there?! Maybe it's cause it's my mothertongue but it just feels awkward and like a reason to say "HEY OUR ALBUM IS DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHERS!" or "EMERY, NOW WITH 20% MORE SPANISH". But it serves no other purpuse to beneffit the music.

Trying new things, probably?

It's not the fact it's spanish, it's how poorly it's placed there. For instance Shaka Ponk have french, german and spanish mixed and they all feel like part of the songs. In this case, it's not the fact that there's spanish in the song, it's that it's forced into the song. Like a last minute idea to make it sound more interesting.

That was a rather interesting conversation you two just had there. I was enthralled, so I say: Muchos Gracias.
And for the record, I don't think it's poorly placed. It's on a short track that basically serves as an intro to the closer.

Esta noche serĂ¡ miaaaa has much more flair than "this night will be mine". As for pronunciation, it doesn't bother me when Latino singers butcher pronouncing English, so nor does it vice versa.

I could honestly say I have never heard a song by him, but I won't, because it doesn't relate to the god that is Emery!
