i like how this one looks like a sketch someone made during class, but it's somehow deep and tells a story

To me my best post-punk bands are And Also The Trees and Eyeless In Gaza, both active since 1979 and 1980 and still releasing albums (and very amazing ones).
Even if And Also The Trees aren't typical post-punk, and already dropped that post-punk influenced sound in their 1992 album Green Is The Sea. All 12 albums of them are excellent.
But The Chameleons is my 3rd most favourite post-punk band, and there were many awesome bands.

Also I like to add, about Eyeless In Gaza, since they came back out of their hiatus in 1995 they keep releasing albums, some of them even up there with their best to me (Sun Blues (2016) for example), Song Of The Beautiful Wanton, Everyone Feels Like A Stranger and Bitter Apples are also great albums since 1995.
I also would start maybe with their albums Pale Hands I Loved So Well and Drumming The Beating Heart (both 1982), the ones before them are a bit harder to get into because of Martyn Bates vocals which got better from 1982 on.
And with And Also The Trees, I would start with their 2nd album Virus Meadow (1986), their first one is typical post-punk and very like The Cure.

According to RYM I have almost 50 post-punk albums rated but most are 00s/10s revival not classic 80s era. I’m passingly familiar with some of the big ones from that era (The Cure, Talking Heads, Joy Division) and some other scattered albums but haven’t even done full discog runs of many of those and have never done a genre deep dive for other gems. Imagine I should dig deeper into the big ones (including these) before looking for deep cuts but always down for some Phero recs (even if I don’t get to them post-haste)!
