I dunno if they were directly influenced, but if you made a flowchart of the release history of good grandiose post-rock with linear structures and predictable melodies (Gybe) to pretty ok grandiose post-rock with linear structures and predictable melodies (Mono), this band is comfortably in between in both chronology and quality imo

I mean this is a load of overinflated epics with not much going for them outside of the melody department; they're sometimes amazing and sometimes boring as hell, the production is just about ok and the drumming is pigshit. It's good for what it is I guess, I'd also 100% drop my rating if the midway climax in the closer wasn't so good

opener on [The] Slowest Runner [in all the World]'s album has all the amateurish charm and as many good ideas as this whole album packed into a runtime shorter than all but one of its tracks

also this band and mono technically formed within two years of each other so are probs best viewed as contemporaries

"But this is post-Gybe. It can't be A tier."
what in the fuck is this logic
|
| |
Good logic. Gybes massive influence ruined post-rock

*Explosions in the Sky ruined post-rock, but this band was close enough to the bombshell

This is also true
