I mean this is the record that made Miles conquer a completely new audience within the 70's youth as his clubs were getting more and more empty, some part of it has to be able to speak to a wide audience..

The Complete Bitches Brew sessions is also amazing. 2 extra discs!

@ Barber: I agree that it might not be the best entry point to jazz in general as it is non typical for Jazz.

But then, it might make getting into it easier if you approach jazz departing from a rock background... Especially if you like more experimental, jammy and funky kinds of rock...

This reminds me that I recorded (who says 'taped'?) a 2 hour long documentary about this guy and keep forgetting to watch it. Anything I can't do whilst simultaneously listening to music gets put to one side these days.

I should probably rectify this situation before the wife inevitably deletes it.

Oh my god that dig Demon 💚

That docu sounds nice man! Although sometimes knowing more about the people behind the music can be somewhat of a burden too. I remember watching a documentary on Nina Simone which was so heavy and depressing that I was unable to listen to her music for a while. I imagine Miles' life wasn't all sunshine and rainbows either.

Nina!

Yeah my whole comment got deleted, wtf? Erm... yeah I was just agreeing, sometimes the less you know the better, at least in a personal sense.

"Nina!" ❤️

Aayyee, hate it when that happens. Exactly. If you ever watch that Miles docu let me know if it's safe to watch!

Yes it was.

Do you share my pain? My bf had it too, and we're the biggest fans, but we couldn't listen to her for some weeks.

I don't think I'm as big a Nina fan as you are but I totally get whatcha mean. Usually after watching a documentary all I want to do is jam the artists/band, but here I couldn't.

Note to self: do not watch. I like listening to her stuff and would like to keep things as they are.

It eventually went away again, this feeling, and now we can listen to her again as much as before. She's just had such a tough, rough life, man...

But what an artist she is. Incomparable.
