I.M's early Senseless demo is really interesting. Far from prog-melo-death, they were more Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride with Tristania infleunced gothic tinged doom. I will review after vacation.
Funny the bands been around since the late 90s.

you weren't making a comparison, you were making a stupid, sweeping statement. sure, i won't argue with you and say that some sections in Opeth's music isn't a little over the top, and I personally don't like their last two albums, but this album isn't anywhere near as good as Opeth's best.
