Yeah the female vocalist is a nice addition, but the build-ups in Panopticon are above anything I've ever encountered.

I kind of saw that coming haha. In the Absence of Truth should be regarded as highly as Panopticon/Oceanic. It's the perfect album trilogy imo.

well since im recharging batteries to continue my epic video game marathon i might as well take a listen to that one album, but so far oceanic is the best post metal album ive ever heard, even better than sath and salvation (sory rel) ^^

Cult of Luna is right up there with Isis and Neurosis. If the new Cult of Luna is good enough I'll consider them past Isis.

I already consider them past Isis. and that's not the fan in me talking.

but that's because they are heavier.

Cult of Luna isn't as dependent on Isis as most people seem to think. They developed practically parallel to each other.

barely any moments that I find that are very similar to Isis. the both have their own sound. Salvation might have been influenced by Oceanic but not Panopticon since they were released on the same year. that's all I can find in similarities.

CoL started a year after Isis, and they started writing the self-titled songs a year after the mosquito control, I doubt they even heard of Isis around that time. I think the self-titled is around the same quality as Celestial. The SGNLs serve their purpose but bring the album down much.

just because one band released an album like a year or two before another doesn't really mean shit about their influence on one another, especially when they're from different parts of the world.

i love both bands but think cult of luna writes better songs.

All 3 are great. While Isis are my favorite, Neurosis are by far the most influential.
