"I've always been waiting for the dream/gaze album they've always had in them" [2]

This is probably why I appreciated Gore more than most, as it was the closest they've come to that. They haven't done metal well since the turn of the century

Because so many people listened to this once, shrugged it off and never revisited. Its brilliance really shines through after a few listens. It can seem a bit all over the place and unfocused initially.

yep, always thought this is what Radiohead wanted HTTT to sound like, not sonically of course, but just a sprawling album of different genres and textures combined and executed to perfection

Great comparison. Agreed. Though the main difference is that this album, despite its schizophrenia (I mean that in a good way), it somehow manages to maintain the same spacey, ethereal, shoe gazey atmosphere throughout. Which is really the brilliance of it.

Whereas HTTT doesn’t really have a consistent tone, but the genre and tone jumping keep it fresh and exciting. To this day that’s one of the Radiohead albums that never seems to get old, despite it being far from their best.

Hell yeah. I’d say Xerces and Entombed are their most beautiful songs. Rivière is close.

Huh. Mein is actually my least favs here and one of my least favorite Deftones songs period. I dunno, I just find it dull, lackluster and apathetic.

I'd like Mein more if it didn't include Serj on it... his vocal style really doesn't fit here imo

Mein just doesn’t do anything for me at all.

It feels like “Deftones on Autopilot Feat. Serj”
