Tempest, Rosemary and Goon Squad were big highlights, not so sold on Leathers but I'll defs give this another spin soon

I didn't like Leathers that much when they released it as a single but then I realized I'm fucking crazy and it's the greatest song ever

When it came out, it was my favourite Deftones album. Since then I've become more partial to Diamond Eyes but both are incredible.

I think I binged these guys so much in the 2000s and after Diamond Eyes, I was kind of burnt out on them when this came out

I feel like it doesn't miss a beat right up until Rosemary.

There’s the obvious djent influence with the axe fx and the downtuned riffs but to me the defining feature of this record is a bit of 90s grunge/alt rock influence with the major chord substitutions. that and the tracks are a little more free flowing than say DE or WP

I love djent and all, but there is not a shred of it in any of Deftones' music. Steph's taste for downtuning/extended range guitars and the way he plays them is far more rooted in nu metal, even on the albums that don't pre-date the djent movement like this one.
