"Blonde Redhead is not shoegaze."
1/3 of that album is straight shoegaze and the rest is dream pop with various degrees of gaze - that's around the same proportion as Souvlaki, which anyone will agree is above water, and definitely 'more' shoegaze than, say, Swervedriver (not that that's worth contesting either). both 23 and Souvlaki have smarter and more versatile songwriting than this across the board, though I appreciate that's not what many of y'all look for in this sound

I wouldn't say an album is shoegaze for only 33%. Souvlaki is over 50% btw.
Also I can't remember there being a single shoegaze song on that Blonde Redhead album. But it's not something I listened to multiple times.

Ah this song sounds like shoegaze sure. I wouldn't call it definitive though, it sounds way more like dream pop to me than pure shoegaze. Also A.R. Kane were ripping of CAN better than that in the 80s :p
