yes T/T is incredible fo sho. i remember trying to get into this band the time this dropped, but beyond a couple of licks from this record, never could. just not a fan of the indiscernable scream style at all. love in the T/T that i can actually understand the lyrics

"Exactly right. Straight hardcore/hc punk at first, implement some more metal, post hc and emo elements with time, then they lean into sludge and crust on later/more recent stuff. Never lost their identity though"

Solidly agree overall with the exception that their emo influence was felt as early as PTES, so I'm not sure that was an added element 'with time', necessarily

WFCC is underrated (2)

I was talking about the transition from the first demo to Halo as far as post hc/emo. You can hear it as early as 94!!! Been covering everything on my discog revisit. This album is actually up next m/

ahh, I think my assumption was those 'additions' were chronologically ordered and gradual, which I now don't think you intended - fair enough then

No worries brother you're good!!! The first demo is crazy because it hardly sounds like Converge. Closer to a C list New York hardcore band but still cool for what it is

This is among their best tbh

Still like the “regular” over the deluxe edition. I think both Runaway and On My Shield hurt the albums flow despite being amazing songs. I could take or leave No Light Escapes, it’s fine.

Yeah I was in the same boat, whatever CD I had didn’t have them on it so I never heard them until streaming really started to get where it is now… I’ve listened to the record a few times with those three but it’s always flowed better to me without them. I like em more as some standalone bonus tracks

I really do love On My Shield and Runaway, I just think the album works better without them. No Light Escapes is fun too.

I’ll give them this, for “deluxe” tracks they fit into the album so seamlessly, I just think the record works better at 38ish mins over 45.

Just now found out that the title track is about the death of Bannon's dog. Fuck, man
