No lol

I have extreme qualms against organized religion, especially the catholic church.

However I believe that both faith and scientific reasoning can coexist alongside each other so long as one doesn't use them to justify each other's reasonings. They are two fundamentals with completely different meaningful factors to a person's life.

Ah I though as much, agree.

I was wondering why you would try to tone down anti-christian sentiments in an Immolation thread.

Man, the reports from the vatican are just surreal. Also how the religious weirdness is running parallel to the story about Trump meeting with Zelensky.

What reports might I ask? I'm trying to find this but nothing significant is seemingly cropping up

Also lmao the Trump Zelensky meeting was embarrassing and juvenile but I'm not sure what the tether is there

He's looking for information to affirm his own opinions and beliefs while ignoring everything else that doesn't affirm these things. What he absolutely does not want to do is change his opinions and beliefs based on, for example, opinions and beliefs of other people, because he identifies with his views. If you identify with something, losing or changing that thing would (temporarily) lead to a (partial) perceived loss of identity. One would wonder: who am I without my opinions and beliefs?

>What reports might I ask?

For example interviews with catholics from the funeral where the pope's corpse has been out so people could see him one last time. This is very symptomatic:

"People who waited in line for hours to pass by the coffin have only a fraction of a moment to see the pontiff, with roughly 50 people passing each minute.

“It’s frustrating because you only have one second, so there is no time to pray,” said Victoria Risso from France, who waited for more than three hours with her husband and children. “But it was a powerful moment.”"

In every interview, people are displaying clear signs of insanity. But it's presented like it's perfectly normal.

Jurtz, what made you a believer in the supernatural?

I can't say I understand what value a person would intrinsically gain from seeing a dead religious figure, but I also think funerals should remain a v personal affair. I can't imagine tye common Christian having any intrinsic ties of faith that even necessitate the pope tbh so yeah that is at least bizarre

I share Egarran's sentiment when it comes to religious insanity. The episode he mentioned about the pope's funeral is one those cases where I just don't get it. Anyway, I have my share of things that would be weird for most people so... None of them involves believing in invisible beings or taking irrational fantasy books as the word of "God" though...

Nah I'm not into that haha. I'm actually a romantic fella who writes poetry and goes on hiking voyages alone.

The kicker for me is that the pope represents vast corruption on both a spiritual and physical level.

And his followers apparently ask a supernatural authority to accept him in the afterlife. Which I guess makes sense, since by their own accounts he should be in Hell.

This intense, mindblowing hypocrisy is very symptomatic for christianity, it's just extra visible right now.

To be fair Egarran, Pope Francis wasn't even the worst pope at all. I think he was one of the best if we take into account what the catholic church is and the history of popes before him.

Hiking alone? Nice! Although it's been more MTB for me lately. Either way nature is the best

Pope Francis was a very modest man, living in frugal conditions. He did not want to live in luxury or have expensive possessions. Have you seen pictures of his bedroom? Only the basics. He sat on a wooden chair, not the gold one that the previous popes used. He lived like Jesus taught His followers. He was a good man. Bless him and I hope he is in a good place.

Today I thought a lot about my Christian upbringing, especially my elementary school and teachers and the church I was forced to go to every Sunday until I was 16. I also thought about the many debates I had with my parents and my family, having many questions that nobody could answer. That put me in the right state of mind to finally appreciate this album for what it is. Still not my favorite Immolation album, but not a 2.5 anymore.
