>aren't forum nerds that scour the world for obscure prog bands

Camel is obscure? Lmao you're on crack dude

With that snippet alone you obliterate any credibility you had. No one is offended but you certainly are making a fool of yourself

Camel is absolutely obscure lol. They're not the most obscure there is but it's definitely a cult following. Most classic rock boomers haven't heard of them like pink Floyd, genesis, king crimson, rush, yes, etc

When I got into progressive rock, Camel were one of the first bands I ever heard of. I'm pretty sure their first four or so were rather well-regarded even before the late '90s/early '00s.

Yeah, they aren't really a household name per se but most people into prog have heard them I'd imagine

It might have sold more than all of genesis' prog albums actually.

True, but a lot of opeth fans aren't necessarily super into prog, especially the people that are only into their metal stuff

It's not even close. Selling England by the pound eclipsed it by miles in sales and chart positions

@eakfland
You are probably right. I recall reading that the album went platinum somewhere. Now I can't find it.
