def more metalcore than just post-hardcore to me, some of the moments here are Heavy

yeah i myself usually dont count these guys in the convo since all their best work strikes me more as mxc. this and the two after it are an unreal run tho yea

Underoath only ever made one post-hardcore album and that was TOCS.

How do you distinguish the two? Not being a dick, genuinely asking.

you gotta peep the game for longer, put your time in
listen to the ‘pure’ examples of the genres and compare styles til you see how they got there

Definitely more metalcore though the poppy moments do get pretty poppy.

@keaton, i once explained it to a friend who asked the same thing many years ago in a high school english class (lol).
i said metalcore tended to have more emphasis on low end/chugging guitars, more often had deeper screams/more aggression in the song structures (breakdowns, etc), and that post hardcore tended to have more melodic driving factors, a little lighter on the bass side of it all (or low end), and there's more high screaming/emphasis on cleans and overly emotional song structures tbh
hope this helps? just my understanding at least
edit; yeah this album is a mix between mxc and pxc imo. its just mixed and mastered so well, it does both simultaneously.
