It's like being beaten to the point of unconsciousness at times but it rules m/

I actually love the production on here, captures the sound they were going for almost perfectly. I'm not as big a fan of the production on their later albs

Yeah, this album wouldn't sound right without the raw production.

Going through the discography again and was really anticipating this one for the amazing experience that I remembered it being... but I gotta say I was a bit dissapointed...
Don't get me wrong it's a consistently beautiful record but heaviness-wise I find more weirdness and destruction in EotS and in terms of a sonic adventure I really feel like their next records went completely beyond and perfected every mesmerizing idea you can find here. This feels like an in-between and a standalone at the same time. Odd. The one thing that truly sets it apart is an experience of violence that is completely different.
Not a fav by a longshot but hey, still mindblowing at times

Always. But in the discog there are just a lot of other records that speak to me more. AStNS obviously but also EotS, ToG & GttR just hit me like trucks, planes & trains. Heck even HFiD touches me more than this I'll say (but this record is miles ahead though in execution and greatness). Ya know what I mean ?

Ok so I've got a problem guys.
I just found out there's a show in London on Saturday.
The bill is: Neurosis, Godflesh & Yob.
Should I just bite the bullet and go for it? I can stay at a friends house its just quite the journey getting there...

I've never seen Godflesh live but I've been told they're amazing.
Neurosis will be set of the year though, pretty much guaranteed.

What kinda sucks is I imagine there'll be a few songs off Fires on the Neurosis set.
Never know though, might end up appreciating the album more after hearing the material live.

Pleb, I really don't get your problem with Fires. Yeah, it's not jaw-dropping like most of their other albums, but it's still a solid addition to their discography.

Oh no it's a great album man, just I'd rather hear a song off each album post-TWAL.
Be a nice spectrum that way and I think it'll lend itself well to a live setting.

Oh, if we are talking live setlist, then yeah, I'm with ya there. Do they play anything off Given To the Rising nowadays? The first album I ever heard by these guys.

To the Wind and the t/t quite often, two of my fave Neurosis songs coincidentally.
