>very true to life.
This is why I haven't see it yet.

I just didn’t find too many of the characters to be very interesting or sympathetic.
Like pretty much everyone in the sopranos are morally horrible people but they were all so entertaining that it didn’t really matter.
The Wire really only has Stringer, Omar, and Bubbles for me. Frank Sobatka was cool too I guess.

It's not a character study show and if you're going to expect that you will be very disappointed. The focus is on the worldbuilding and the city of Baltimore, and even though Baltimore is it's own, it really shows how corrupted the system is. So many aspects of the social dysfuctionalities even translate to Germany (where i live). I have learned a lot from the show

It’s on the list for sure.
Idk it always just seemed low stakes to me which I don’t really find interesting

It is low stakes, but a really good show nonetheless

Fixed it for you

yeah i mean it’s not life or death (at least for the most part) but in terms of compelling characters, it’s incredible. plus all the huge events and social changes of the 60s swirling around the characters really adds to it.

breaking bad is a tier below simply because it doesn’t have the same rewatch value as the others due to its heavy reliance on twists and cliffhangers. like once you know what’s coming, it’s loses some of its appeal. plus some of the characters were poorly written and/or acted.

Agreed regarding MM
Not a goat tv show overall though imo. Not far from it maybe

The Wire has by far the biggest rewatch value out of all those

The Leftovers is my goat. I love the Sopranos and Breaking Bad for sure, but they’re not even close to the Leftovers imo
Hannibal is probably the one that comes closest for me.

The Leftovers is one of the best shows of all time

Best finale ever. Hell best final season ever. The last five episodes is just such incredible storytelling

It's really short though, i love tv shows that have a high immersion. 3 seasons seems like the compromise that Phil Leotardo made in that aspect

I think the exact opposite. The Sopranos is incredible but there are three or four episodes that just aren’t up to par. The Leftovers uses every second it has in service of the characters and I think it’s perfect for it.

I mean a short show can be immersive too to a degree, but the likability is much lower (and for a much shorter period of time)

I will watch it eventually, but i will go into it with no expectations
