ngl I've always thought their album titles from 2006 to 2010 referred to the artistic clashes between Spencer and Aaron but ig I was wrong

Fakeout endings are only second to meaty riffs endings (Beware by Deftones, Mean Shadow by He Is Legend, Choking Game by Chevelle, Burn by Three Days Grace, kinda Skin Deep by Janus). I like those a lot.

He Is Legend gets bonus points for doing both.

Speaking of, I never understood why fade out endings are generally hated. They're so mysterious, especially if done correctly. Nothing worse than if the fade is abrupt and you can hear the volume jump from 50% to 0%...

"Nothing worse than if the fade is abrupt and you can hear the volume jump from 50% to 0%..."
Lmfaooo yup. Just defeats the purpose of the fadeout. And please for the love of god dont fade out on a shitty part of the song, make it a cool part.

I can't think of what it is right now, but there's a song that always annoyed me because the guitar work only gets interesting as the song fades out. You can just barely hear it starting to get good.

One of my all time favourites is obviously Five Years by Misery Signals. I'm a sucker for when it's some kind of repeating music or vocal line that just goes on until the volume is zero.

Lol brother, I know exactly what you mean. There's songs where they fade during a fuckin guitar solo. And it ain't even a solo that's simple or repeating. Like the guitarist is going OFF and they're slowly fading his ass out.

"i think define the great line was about him getting clean (finding that 'line' where you change your behavior)"
I think it was about him deciding how much coke to put on each line.
