I still hate myself for missing the show they played here like a decade ago. They played the fuckin EP IN FULL, and then like six other songs.

… I’m kinda surprised Erosion of Sanity has that high an avg, and Considered Dead for that matter. I fuck with both heavy but they’re easily the two weak links imo

More often than not, erosion is my favorite. It blends their proto-progressive tendencies they developed further on later albums with brutality and many of the best dm riffs in the entire genre. My favorite 80% of the time floats between erosion and fwth. Any other random day it's obscura. They've done so many flavors of dm and the rest of the genre is still struggling to (and probably never will) catch up.



Id probably say

Erosion >/= fwth >/= obscura > colored sands > considered dead > pleiades' dust



But everything they've touched is amazing. I have all of their lps 5d because they are all life-altering experiences.

yup truly one of a kind. I get their sound isn’t exactly the most mainstream friendly (well as mainstream as you can get as a dm band) but I’m still shocked and a little bummed they’re not more popular man.

they are (deservedly) recognised as true greats in their field, which given their music isn't exactly accessible or whatever, is pretty cool - there's always likely to be an impenetrable glass ceiling for dm, especially within certain 'subsectors'

tl;dr version, I think their popularity is about as high as you can realistically get for their sound as things stand, but this could change, depending on what they release next
