A hip hop album will never be considered the greatest album of all time, for me at least.. even speaking on cross genres. Ha ha, and I like some hippity hop, but I'd have a hard time imagining it. Kill is right, best Floyd!

greatest album, maybe not, but among the top 5 easily. But that's really up to the listener. I can easily imagine a lifetime jazz listener say the same about a rock album. I've heard hip-hop albums I consider among my favourites.

I like hip-hop and I'm not only saying our personal taste. I'd have a hard time believing critics/journalists saying that, but it is a different era now.. So, hey, who knows.

illmatic

36 chambers

liquid swords

paul's boutique

aquemini

low end theory

etc

its has nothing to do with a new change in taste either none of these albums are new

it'd be like giving a heavy metal alb that title, individually people will say it, but if its being published as GOAT list for some journalism outlet then hip hop, metal and whatnot is too niched to dub as the all time best. it'll all make the list tho its just that rock is much more universal then those genres

That's what I meant by that; those genres/albums will show up in lists, but I don't think it'll ever be the 'one' so-to speak. Like you were saying spaceman, it's not as universal.

there is no the one and there never will be because its highly personal

even on a personal level i think most people would say they dont have a "one" album, rather a handful of favorites

Of course not, I agree. It's always a personal affair, no one is going to universally agree on 'one' record. It's pretty damn trivial to begin with if ya ask me. I'm just speaking about the journalists and critics way of looking at it, it really doesn't matter just speculation bud.

well i think kendrick and kanye will be looked back as two of the most prominent / influential music artists of this generation for sure, and your tpab comment is probably not even wrong i just mean its not my favorite of his personally, s80 is the best then gkmc

They're mentioned in lists, but agree to disagree. I'm speaking on those 10 or 20 records that are considered the "greatest album of all time". I never see hip hop crack those, it'll be mentioned and revered, but you know what I'm saying. Now, as far as the future goes.. who knows! I know I don't want to be around for it ha ha.
