Mikael has never been a great lyricist tbh, he is one of the greatest songwriters ever though so I can let him off.

Here we are then.
This is where it started for me around nine years ago when I was recommended this album by a bloke at work.
Having never knew of the band prior to about 2002 the name was cropping up here and there and the band was held in high regard on Internet forums.
I thought I’d give it a go and was impressed but not taken with it in any way shape or form. It was alright.
Around 2013 Sput stuck it’s oar in, insisted Opeth were the bollocks and my interest was sparked so I listened to this one again and it was……alright.
A few more years passed and on a whim I gave Heritage a spin and it completely opened the door for me. The last two and a half years have been one constant Opeth binge which has been one of the most enjoyable musical forays of me life.
This album was listened to regularly during that period, it’s the one that continued to reveal itself. It was an ‘excellent’ album.
Purchased the vinyl, stuck it on a couple of days ago and it blew me away. I absolutely loved it.
It’s their best.
Let it also be known Sorceress is underrated as fuck.

Hmmmm, it's a development I can't agree with. But with the "Opeth is fantastic"-statement I totally can!

Godhead's Lament introduced me to death metal many moons ago when Damnation had just came out. Didn't like it at first, hated the growls, but I listened again and again just for the first solo and chorus. And now here we are.

This is the path towards righteousness, for sure. Can't see that being old af has anything to do with it mind.
