Yeah, absolutely. His vocal performance might even be his best ever.

Fuck if everyone feels this way I'm going to have to bump it up the priority list.

Torn between this and Countdown for their best. Also Rust.

He's the Vince McMahon of thrash. He is out of touch and has no idea what people actually like.

Didn't knew that mustaine hated this record, I knew he hated risk but this. He even in a documentary talked about how fun was to record stuff like train of consequences

"I've never understood why Dave personally hates this recording"
Hmm, I've never heard that. Where did you read/see that?
|
| |
Can't remember where I read that but it's true. It was during the time Cryptic Writings was out.
I knew he hated risk, he realize that the mentioned record was so bad that after a month tracks like crush em and breadline dissapear from the setlist on tours

Crush 'Em lol. What a horrible song, but the chorus is kinda catchy in a completely guilty pleasure sort of way. Yeah that all makes sense.
I would actually rather listen to Risk than Cryptic Writings, imo.

I remember watching this live concert of them playing Crush 'Em around the time Risk came out and Dave kept trying to get the crowd to yell 'CRUSH 'EM!' but no one would do it.
|

That sounds hilarious
|
| |
Have saw just 2 performances of crush em, the first one was in woodstock and the other was in the wcw, the wcw performance is the worst show in megadeth's history
|
| |
oh man I'll have to look up the WCW one.
Crazy hearing people not like Cryptic Writings though. I thought She-wolf was a bonafide-fan-favorite? And Secret Place....bruh

Totally agree on that one. This is my 2nd fav Megadeth record, sometimes it might even be my favorite. I think it's their most organic work by far and everything just fits perfectly. All members were still at the top of their game and Dave's vocal delivery has never been more accurate and inspired. From Killing Is My Business up to Youthanasia the band went through a very natural progression without losing impact or the sound feeling forced. They managed to constantly move forward, hone their skills and refine their sound.
Nostalgia might affect my objectivity regarding this band, but I really think with Rust, Countdown and Youthanasia they've created three almost flawless albums in a row.

^ Agreed hard
Been jamming this one again lately. Even after a few years it's still growing on me. Not too sure yet but it might be turning into a 4 for me.
The appeal of it is that it's probably the slowest Megadeth album but it still rules. Megadeth still pumps out tasty riffs even when they're not thrashy (e.g. I Thought I Knew It All)

Lots of really good tracks on this. I agree with whoever said Mustaine's vocals are at his best on here too.
