I tend to forget bloodmoon is considered a converge album I always considered it a converge/chelsea wolf album but in that case yes, blood moon is their most experimental for sure

This is definitely inspiring me to do a discog dive in these guys again, it’s been too long. I think my ranking may change after listening through all the albums again. I just remember axe and you fail me being my favs. Definitely never gave awlwlb or dusk enough attention over the years so need to jam those a few times

absolutely enjoying this but to me it feels lacking one or two songs to make this feel more holistic. Fingers crossed for an additional ep or deluxe edition (probably the latter). struturally this flows incredibly well and the sound and songwriting are magnificent. I just wish they extended that ending of to feel something into a stomping ending break or something like that. When that riff kicks in I always get pumped as hell but then it just ends

can't really get into this one. like I appreciate the songs, they're good, but I don't really feel them, there's no "wow" moments. Make Me Forget You comes closest to that, it builds up really nicely

"Same. AtF was the first album since my early forays into heavy music where I was like "wtf is this" (2)
yeah, it had a huge impact on my personally and I will always love it for that.
in agreement with the boiled down to their essence / concise and refined shouts here. This doesn't reinvent the verge wheel, but it's a lean machine. Perhaps the high baseline is doing a lot of the heavy lifting I guess, yet I'm still enjoying it overall
Make Me Forget You (definitely) and Force Meets Presence (almost there) are up there tho. Arkhipov Calm was the one that bucked the trend on Dusk, but that album was a lot messier and less consistent than this, from memory

I've never been much of a sludge guy but I dig it on this album. Bad Faith and Make Me Forget You are the two I've returned to the most so far.

More emotional and dramatic moments like Make Me Forget You would have made the album more standout and interesting imo. As it stands, it's more like a collection of standard aggressive Converge songs. Which are still better than a lot of bands' best songs, but I almost 3.5'd it. Wasn't so into the chuggy parts either, they usually find a more interesting way to groove than that.

This is pretty solid mid-tier Converge for me. No real complaints, but I can't help but miss the ambition that their best albums have.
