Just attended the premier of euro tour and they only played 3 songs from this new one. Really well put on show overall except for the excessive Åkerfeld stand up show. Could just have hoped for more new stuff because the few selected ones sounded so good live.

Just remembered this album came out. First listen has been mostly positive, here's to hoping the next ones go as well before I decide to rank this.
In other news, I finally went back to Heritage and I've finally started to warm to it more. I'm still not a huge fan of songs like Nepenthe, Haxprocess and Famine: they still feel a bit too much like aimless noodling to me. However, the other songs now leave a much more positive impression on me, especially I Feel The Dark.

I hope you can like of Heritage. In my book it's a great album.
This last one is also great. I think it's an album that needs several listenings to can fully appreciated.

In my book Opeth only has ONE so-so record, and that's Sorceress. Having said that, even that record has great songs.

Somehow I can agree with you. But I also put Heritage in the same plane. I'm not the hardest fan of it. But I agree that both albums have great songs, which isn't a minor thing. They don't have weak works.

Sorceress and Pale Communion suck but all of their other stuff is good at the very least.

Had a blast listening this for a month or so, but kind of forgot about it since January. In Cauda Venenum had a lot more replay value tbh, I like the variety there.

I saw them a few days ago and I just loved it. I never saw them play before, which is a shame, because I listened to Watershed 10 years ago for the first time. It was overdue! The sound was great, Mikael does great live interactions and they even played some more obscure tracks like Häxprocess and The Night And The Silent Water. The new tracks worked so well live, I have a new and deeper appreciation for this album now

"they even played some more obscure tracks like Häxprocess and The Night And The Silent Water"
fuuuuuuuuuuuuck, nice! I'm definitely jealous of those choices, especially the latter because hearing anything from Morningrise is a rarity (Hax is one of my fave off Heritage too).
Glad you enjoyed it!
"I have a new and deeper appreciation for this album now"
I did enjoy the cuts from Sorceress more live and presumed the same would happen for me, but alas it did not once I'd returned to the recordings, lol.
When I saw them Mikael's 'interactions' were bordering on excessive at times, but he wasn't afraid to aim a dig in his own direction, which was appreciated

also saw them on monday and they were great, as usual. fully agree that the new tracks integrated perfectly into a live setting
