It feels like a follow-up to his viral diss track "Not Like Us" from a few months ago. I get why Kendrick released it; he’s trying to ride the wave of attention he’s getting right now. But on "GNX," his creativity really takes a hit, making it his weakest album so far. It seems like he aimed to create a chart-topping record, and it might actually do well since the tracks are catchy enough, but it lacks the depth we usually expect from him. Looking back, "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers" seems way more impressive; that one was so well put together and had a real message. Yeah, that album is far from perfect, but at least it was well thought out, I can't say the same for "GNX." Best songs are Man at the garden and Reincarnated handily.

“viral diss track “Not Like Us”” is a dead giveaway tundra. Nobody fucking types like that. We all know what Not Like Us is, it doesn’t need a fuckin preamble lmfao

It was a review I wrote on RYM, but sure, AI. This is the first time Kendrick has been a boastful rapper, and I just can't connect with that kind of hip hop at all.

Kendrick was always a conscious rapper before this, talking about mental health. Sure there's some of that on this album, but not nearly enough for my taste.

this is absolutely not the first time "kendrick has been a boastful rapper" lmao
the control verse is infamously one of the most "boastful" verses ever recorded and that was 10+ years ago at this point.

Alright so you listened to the 3 tracks here that are like that. Cool
Bro, like over half the album is still talking about personal shit. What are you talking about

The SZA melodic songs here fall flat for me too, it's just too radio hip hop for my taste. This album is centered around those "banger" tracks like "Squabble up" and I just don't care about those. Yeah, Kendrick did so boastful tracks in the past now that I think about it. I do like a song like "King Kunta", but guess I just prefer the beat and rhythm of that one. The beats here mostly feel pretty generic, which is disappointing.

Yup I don't like 97.6% of rap, all the 90s stuff does nothing for me. Glad there is other artists like Earl Sweatshirt that I can connect more in modern rap.
