They've undoubtedly moved on from basic-ass beatdown but you can't deny it's in their dna, it's all over this thing no matter how many experiments/layers/atmospheric bits they incorporate

Probably pretty fun live tho

yah this has beatdown written all over it
personally i find this overwhelmingly one note and i still think this band hasnt really learnt how to write songs that arent just a litany of 'oh shit' moment haphazardly thrown together
all blends into one for me

It is a litany of oh shit moments
And that's all I ever want it to be

I might be old but I just can't take this band seriously with these vocals man

I'm with Emim and Mort the more I've tried to listen to this album except I think it tries to have "oh shit" moments rather than actually having them. When everything is unga boonga the whole time, none of the breakdowns have any weight to them. It wants to be heavy but it doesn't execute since it's all mostly one note until the final track.
I know this shit is going to go hard af live and I'm excited for it but listening to the studio recording doesn't do a lot for me. I'll probably make an EP of 4-5 songs from here if I want to listen to it. I just get bored by the time Take Me Home rolls around.

That's exactly why I can't consider this beatdown and my biggest criticism of the record. The grooves and breakdowns don't hit nearly as hard as the OGs/legends of the genres. This is likely due to their style and production job on this thing. This fits closer to Disembodied in my eyes but not as hard
