yeah, I was trying to think 'when does Stevens leave out his religion in his music?'

I stopped listening to him after Adz, which I just couldn't get into. Is there anything really new here?

it's hard to imagine someone being dissatisfied with C&L or this /in the same way/ as Adz...

Sufjan releases I know ranked:

C&L > Javelin > C&L Live > Seven Swans > Age of Adz > Illinois > Silver & Gold > A Beginner's Mind > Michigan > The Greatest Gift > Planetarium > Aporia

adz is still my favorite but i jam this more because adz's runtime is usually a hard sell for me. reallly gotta strap in for that boy

yeah, in terms of pure quality of material Adz is def a bit better than Swans but Swans is more enjoyable to me personally. "Impossible Soul" is of course one of his top 5 tracks though. In general I'd argue Sufjan is more of an individual songs artist than an album artist for me tbh

This whole thing is angelic, not sure it's impressive so much as incredibly pleasant, but I'm also at a point in my life where stuff like this tends to land well. There's at least 3 songs here that will forever anchor this in Sufjan lore for me, and that's more than I can say about any of his other works post-C&L.
